Working From Home

We are mid- way through our 4 week lock down.  For some of us working from home is natural and easy, while for others it’s a challenge.

Many are relishing lock down to relax or exercise more, avoid commuting, focus on growth and opportunities, or simply in getting paid while doing very little!

Others are stressed about their lack of income, inability to pay bills and suppliers, retention of staff and/or customers, business continuity, job security, personal health risks.

This is the time for leaders to step up – provide support and leadership to your people, loved ones, and those sharing your bubble.

As an employer you are responsible for the health and safety of your team, even when they are working from home. So, check in on them regularly.  Ensure their home office is set up safely.  Provide the resources and support they need to stay healthy and productive.

As someone said recently, “if a team member is working from home and they trip over their mat – that is your responsibility as their employer!”

Q2 have a “working from home” self assessment checklist your staff can complete, let us know if you’d like a copy.  By asking staff to self assess their work from home environment you are demonstrating leadership and responsibility as an employer.

“Between stimulus and response there is a space.  In that space is our power to choose our response.  In our response lies our growth and freedom.” Viktor Frankl
